Lydia is a lawyer with an accounting background. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with nine (9) years’ experience cutting across taxation laws, tax dispute resolution, corporate law, regulatory compliance and risk management. She is exceptionally knowledgeable on tax legislation across Africa and has a strong grasp of the fiscal and regulatory framework across multiple and diverse jurisdictions such as: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and South Africa. Her experience cuts across corporation tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), customs, excise, international tax and transfer pricing with a bias for indirect taxes. She has provided tax advisory and compliance services to various taxpayers in the financial services sector, telecommunication sector, hospitality, manufacturing sector, state corporations and not for profit organizations; and has successfully advised and represented various taxpayers in some of the most complex and high value tax assessments.Currently, Lydia is the Regulatory Practice lead at KPMG East Africa; where she leads a dynamic team of professionals in tax dispute resolution, tax compliance health checks, due diligence reviews, legal audits and restructuring advisories. Prior to joining the tax and regulatory department, Lydia was part of KPMG East Africa’s in-house legal and risk management team as a senior advisor.
